apparently, the safety features built into the smart fortwo really do work. this story in the the mountain press dated january 27, 2009, indicates the little smart car held up pretty well during a roll over accident on the chapman highway near knoxville, tennessee. the next day, the drivers husband said his wife was a little bruised, but doing fine. the local volunteer fire department plans on taking a field trip to the local smart dealership, smart center knoxville, to get a good look at the "tridion safety cell" display so they will know what to do in the event of another accident involving a smart car. they were caught off guard at the accident scene, and cut the top off the smart to get the driver out because it was on it's side. had they not cut the top off, it could have been repaired. i say all's well that end well!
