after our trip to the midwest
smart car rally, we spent time at the harley-davidson museum. even
if you don't own a motorcycle, i think most people will see the beauty in
all of them. all the displays were very well done, some are interactive...and there's plenty of media to enjoy. their attention to detail was not lost on me! |

king kong is the remarkable creation of felix predko, a long time harley-davidson rider & mechanic. built over 4000 hours between 1954 & 1953, it marries two factory frames. it also features a homemade electric starter, particularly impressive given that harley-davidson did not introduce an electric-start until 1956. felix was rightly proud of his metalworking skills. note the extensive aluminum skirting, and trim on components. he also accentuated his riding gear with handcrafted wristbands, belts and boot accessories. just a few of the customizations include dual scuba tanks for supplying compressed air to freight train horns, dual 1200cc overhead-valve knucklehead engines, 1959 cadillac tail lights on fenders and a double length primary chain. | ||||
