this is dan kramer from fresno, ca. i saw your "ITIBITI Meets The Wienermobile" video clips and remembered experiencing little oscar and his sausage ride in 1959 when he came to the town where I lived, walnut creek, ca. he gave out free wiener whistles to those savvy kids who could say "angolob" ("bologna") backwards.

i fell into addiction with the idea of unique vehicles in the early '70s when, for a brief while, I drove a 1961 corvair 95 utility van. after it got totaled, i marshaled my resources and scored a 1965 international harvester metro-mite step van from coca-cola of san jose. it had been abused by the route drivers who delivered soda syrup to the fountains and restaurants of downtown sanno zay. it had 86,000 miles and 7 years on it.

my sister's husband got the engine rebuilt for me and, 38 years later, it still cranks up and rolls with it's
4-cylinder engine (half of a v-8, known as a "slant four"). it has moved countless friends, pinballs and juke boxes (another passion), and sleeps away the winter under a hay barn in the sierras.

driving the metro-mite is like being a head above all other cars on the road, in a cage made of heavy-gauge american steel, with no chance of injury...except maybe to a pinky toe. next weekend i will take it to the "tulare county antique farm equipment show". there is nothing like it on the lot!

if you get out to calfornia from chilly michigan, buzz me and I'll load ITIBITI into the back of the metro-mite and we'll go double-decker cuisin'!!
